Originally released on December 17, 2021

Listen to the show :

Star Trek is obviously about the human condition and the exploration of strange new worlds…but, you know, sometimes it's also about fisticuffs! And on this week's TrekRanks we return to our "Scenes in Trek" series with the "Top 5 Fight Scenes." (Which in this case is not about phaser fights or space battles or verbal sparring, but about knockdown, drag-out, physical altercations…and there are a ton of them in Trek.) Our host Jim Moorhouse and guests Dana Kenedy and Chris Burris enter the ring to faceoff with all their favorites.

Episode Rundown:

Level One Diagnostic Cycle: We discuss the history of the "Scenes in Trek" series, rattling off the previous 10 "scene" episodes on TrekRanks, while also getting into a little bit of the "sweet science."

Prime Directive: The crew rings the bell and breaks down their modus operandi for determining their picks.

The Order of Things: Our panel enters the ring to square off with their different picks, all punctuated with "Five words and a hashtag."

Secondary Systems: Our fighters get into a few additional selections for the picks that just missed our lists!

Regeneration Cycle: Everyone recaps their picks and we discuss some of the interesting statistical anomalies that arose from the discussion.

Temporal Distortion: We flashback to our previous "Scenes in Trek" episode and relay some of the great listener feedback from Episode 114, the "Top 5 Scenes on a Cliff."

If you have your own picks you would like to relay to us, please hail us at 609-512-LLAP (5527) and record your own personal TrekRanks log to let us know your Top 5 Fight Scenes. (Or you can record it yourself and just DM us @TrekRanks on Twitter.) Your comments could be used in a Temporal Distortion on an upcoming episode (and might get you a chance to be a guest on a future episode, too).

And don't forget to check out for our entire back catalog of episodes and a detailed rundown on every episode of Star Trek ever.
