Space battles in Trek have never just been about the action and explosions. And that's very apparent this week as TrekRanks tackles the Top 5 Space Battles in Star Trek history. Host Jim Moorhouse is joined by TrekGeeks Bill Smith and Dan Davidson this week to figure out where heart and emotion crisscross with special effects and explosions when highlighting your favorite Space Battles.
This week's topic originally came to light via a voicemail message left by a TrekGeeks listener, which Jim plays for Bill and Dan in the Diagnostic Cycle as they make everyone aware that a space battle can be both action-packed and cerebral. The trio then define exactly how they approached their lists in the Prime Directive, before moving into the Order of Things.
In revealing their "Five Word Summary and a Hashtag" for each of their Top 5 Space Battles, this week's picks both cover a lot of different ground, and cover a lot of similar ground. (So, quite appropriately, you just might be hearing those duplicate signifying Defiant torpedoes a few times.)
Quite a few additional picks are discussed in the Secondary Systems, and them Jim reviews some of the interesting statistical anomalies that emerged from the selections in the Regeneration Cycle.
The episode concludes with a visit into a Temporal Causality Loop as we flashback to Episode 24 and everyone's Top 5 Scenes in a Shuttlecraft.
