Originally released on April 10, 2016

Listen to the show :

Heather and Jeff are joined by Andy Fark and Mike Rittenhouse of Five Year Mission, Brian Nac and Adam Drosin to talk 5YM news, STLV50, answer listener questions and more! Stay tuned at the end for our fourth installment of "First Khans" where Andy, Mike and Brian remember their first STLV conventions.

STLV50 Topics Covered On This Episode :
  • Four months until STLV - round table discussion on our plans for the con
  • Cosplay plans
  • "Hallway Con" revisited
  • Overview of the different levels of convention access offered by the ticket packages
  • How the autograph and photo op queues work at STLV
  • What to expect in the vendor's room

Listener Questions for Five Year Mission :
  • The band does a lot of cons that are more generalized sci-fi, what are the differences between those crowds and STLV?
  • The new Spock's Brain album was very well-received - what can we expect at STLV? Are you working on any secret 50th anniversary projects?
  • Status of the band's next album, "Year Four"

Listener Questions About STLV :
  • Desirae Rogers - The "hallway con" thread has gotten a lot of traction. I guess it would be dependent if the Cadet ticket were offered or how lax security is. From what I recall, a ticket is still needed to get through the entrance. Thoughts from shore leave panelists?
  • Yezenia Hernandez - What about the most memorable panels you've been to?
  • Wally Issacs - I have a movie poster I would like to get signed, is this allowed? Is there an order how this is done after you buy your ticket?
  • Damien Seigel - What about how to survive STLV (or any con really). Many times, there's not enough time to have a sit down meal, and the couple of places that offer grab-&-go food tend to have super long lines - I don't have time for that! What do you do and/or bring (food/snacks/drinks, etc or maybe a relaxing hour by the pool) to get you through the convention weekend? I have my own list of items I pack, but it might be interesting to hear what others do and/or what their regiment is?

First Khans Segment With Five Year Mission & Brian Nac
  • When was your first time attending STLV?
  • What made you decide to go?
  • Favorite memories, panels and photo ops?

Other Topics & Convention-going Advice
  • Brian Nac - Don't underestimate the smaller panels in the secondary theater. You'll be surprised at how great they can be.
  • Andy & Mike - Make time to eat, sleep and shower. Don't neglect any of those things!
  • Heather & Jeff - Plan to take a couple days off after the con is over, post-con depression, and "con-creep".
