This week's episode is our second annual TrekRanks Roundtable recorded live at STLV. And the topic is perfect for Star Trek Las Vegas as we breakdown our Top 5 Costumes. There is an array of dresses, outfits and EV suits from which to choose, but our panel cuts through the fabric of space-time with a canvas of broad overarching selections and deep cut picks. It's an epic episode of TrekRanks featuring the most ranks ever!
Our expansive panel of Star Trek experts features regular guests Claire Little, Adam Drosin and Alexander Perry, as well as Ken Reilly from TrekCore and film critic Jordan Hoffman, the former host of Engage: The Official Star Trek Podcast. The chaotic space is very real during the live recording as our guests are also joined by a studio audience. (OK, it was like three people. But it counts.)
As per usual, our guests each relay their Prime Directive to highlight exactly how they narrowed down their picks, and then in The Order of Things everyone makes their choices that cover a huge swatch of Trek history. Jim also relays a quick breakdown of all the major Costume Designers in Trek history, which you can see here.
History of Star Trek Designers
- William Ware Theiss (TOS and TNG S1)
- Bob Fletcher (TOS films)
- Durinda Rice Wood (TNG S2)
- Deborah Everton (Star Trek: First Contact)
- Sonja Milkovic Hays (Star Trek: Insurrection, and Star Trek Beyond)
- Bob Ringwood (Star Trek: Nemesis)
- Michael Kaplan (Star Trek (2009), and Star Trek Into Darkness)
- Gersha Phillips (Star Trek: Discovery)
- Bob Blackman (literally everything else: TNG S3-7, Generations, all DS9, all Voyager, all Enterprise)
After going through a few Secondary Systems picks and then a Regeneration Cycle to run through the massive amount of statistics, the episode concludes with an excellent visit into another Temporal Causality Loop. This week we listen to a memorable voicemail flashing back to Episode 58 and our Top 5 Road Trips!
As always, if you have your own lists or picks you want to share with us, please make sure to hail us at 609-512-LLAP (5527) and record your own personal TrekRanks log to let us know your Top 5 Costumes. Your comments might be used via a Temporal Causality Loop in an upcoming episode.
